Daniel Lee, DPM, PhD, President

Daniel Lee, DPM, PhD, President

Daniel Lee, of Sacramento was appointed to the Podiatric Medical Board of California in June 2020. Dr. Lee has been a foot and ankle surgeon for the Permanente Medical Group, Kaiser Permanente since 2011. He is a fellow of American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons, California Podiatric Medical Association and American Podiatric Medical Association. Lee is a member of the California Radiologic Technology Certification Committee's Board of Directors. He earned a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in biomedical sciences from Chulalongkorn University. He completed his post graduate residency training at the Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center. He also completed fellowship trainings at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, in biomedical sciences; at the Schulthess Klinik, Zürich, Switzerland, in Orthopaedic Surgery; and at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopedics, Kurgan, Siberia, Russia. He is board certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Lee has been a clinical professor at the California Northstate University, College of Medicine since 2013. He is currently a fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons, and inducted into the prestigious Leadership Hall of Fame, and stays current with medical literature/biotechnologies by actively serving with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, California Podiatric Medical Association, and by teaching our fellows, residents and medical students by involving myself with graduate and undergraduate medical education. He was awarded as the first and only foot and ankle surgeon to graduate from the National Centers of Leadership in Academic Medicine. He also is a member of The Permanente Medical Group Legislative Forum. Dr. Lee is Director of Foot & Ankle Surgery medical students clerkships for Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center. His professional organizations include the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Diplomate; American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Fellow; California Podiatric Medical Association; and, Sacramento Valley Podiatric Medical Society.

Dr. Devon Glazer, DPM, Vice-President

Devon Glazer, from Orange County, is board certified by the American Board of a Foot in Ankle surgery. He moved to California in 2004 after training at Cornell/ Columbia New York Methodist residency program. He is scientific chair of The Western Foot and Ankle Conference and is involved in surgeon/ fellowship training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. Devon is regional medical director for a private practice group based in California. He looks forward to serving the patients and doctors of California.

Dr. Patel of Santa Clara is a new addition to the Podiatric Medical Board.

Dr. Patel received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1998 from the California College of Podiatric Medicine. Armed with a solid foundation in medicine, he sought to further his expertise and skills through a surgical residency. After completing his residency, Dr. Patel's dedication and aptitude caught the attention of the prestigious Kaiser Santa Clara, where he was welcomed as a full–time Foot and Ankle Surgeon.

With his exceptional talent and unwavering commitment to his craft, Sumer rapidly ascended through the ranks. In 2008, Dr. Patel was appointed as the Chief of the Kaiser Santa Clara Foot/Ankle Surgery Department, a position of great responsibility and leadership.

Sumer Patel's influence expanded beyond the confines of his local department as he was appointed Chair of the Chiefs group for all Northern California's Foot and Ankle Surgery Departments. In this esteemed role, he demonstrated his exceptional leadership and ability to foster collaboration among his peers.

In 2013, Dr. Patel was appointed the Physician Operating Room Director of the Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center. His exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage complex medical procedures allowed him to excel in this challenging role, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Continuing his upward trajectory, in 2022, Dr. Patel was appointed as the Assistant Physician in Chief of the Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center. In this capacity, he oversees a diverse portfolio, including medical subspecialties, cardiac services, and the Cath lab. His strategic vision and proficiency in managing complex medical facilities have contributed significantly to the center's growth and reputation.

Throughout his illustrious career, Sumer Patel has been an advocate for patient–centric care, always putting the well–being of his patients at the forefront.

Samantha Yu Chang

Samantha Yu Chang

Ms. Samantha Yu Chang is CEO of Hoya Insurance Agency, Inc. She has devoted her personal life and professional career to helping others and serving the public. She first immigrated to the United States in her twenties to study Business Administration at Kansas Wesleyan University. Upon receiving her MBA, she moved to Los Angeles. At the age of 27, Ms. Chang started her own company, Hoya Insurance Agency, Inc. She has since grown that company into one of the leading insurance brokerages in the San Gabriel Valley. Ms. Chang specializes in commercial line insurance and helps companies manage their business risks. She has helped countless individuals, companies, immigrants, and entrepreneurs navigate the complexities of business insurance. She has helped them, and their business succeed, so they can achieve their own American dream. Ms. Chang's company was recently recognized and certified by the National Minority Supplier Development Council. Besides her career in the insurance industry, she is also a veteran radio and TV host. For over 20 years, she has hosted a weekly radio show on Chinese KAZN AM1300, and more recently a daily television program on SINO TV part of MultiCultural Radio Broadcasting, Inc. Her work in this area allows her to connect with her community and educate the public on various topics of both local, state, and national concern. Ms. Chang serves as a director on many community and professional organizations such as Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA), California Asian Insurance and Financial Professional Association (CAIFPA), and Global Federation of Chinese Businesswomen (GFCBW).

Darlene Trujillo Elliot

Darlene Trujillo Elliot, Riverside Public Utilities Administrative Analyst, Cofounder of Spanish Town Heritage Foundation, Riverside Latino Network President

Personal Mission Statement To inspire, lift and provide resources for change and growth of individuals and organizations.

Darlene is also an avid community volunteer, logging more than 400 hours annually and leading many of the city's annual community events. She is a board member for TruEvolution and current President for the Riverside Latino Network. In 2012, cofounded a foundation with two of her cousins called Spanish Town Heritage, with the mission to champion Hispanic/Latino legacy by sharing the stories of the Inland Empire's first settlers, creating cultural learning opportunities, leading community efforts to restore and revitalize La Placita de Los Trujillo's, a place in history, learning, entertainment and the arts. The annual Riverside Tamale Festival is an event that benefits the foundation and takes place every year in April.

In her previous position Darlene was responsible for the City of Riverside Human Relations Commission (HRC), and Transportation Accountability Performance Task Force, the Mayor's Multicultural Forum. The HRC is a 15 member Charter commission with the task of creating an inclusive community. Recently, spearheading a LGBT Ad Hoc Committee with the main goal of bringing programs and services to the Riverside area, as well as brings awareness to the issues of the LGBT community.

She has received several awards for her community service. In March of 2015 she was selected as Latino Network's Celebración de la Mujer, this recognition given to outstanding women who have demonstrated a spirit of commitment to their communities. May 2015 awarded Outstanding Community Service Award by the Allen Chapel AME Church, in Riverside. November of 2015 the Greater Riverside Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Josie Lozano Memorial Award for community service and political activism.

Darlene has a B. A. in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University. She is a 6th generation Riverside resident and direct descendant of Lorenzo Trujillo, original founder of Riverside. Married 24 years to Walter H. Elliot II; she has two grown children and two grandchildren. In 2014, she was selected to participate in Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) Leadership program. Darlene Trujillo Elliot is the Riverside Public Utilities Administrative Analyst. In this position she is responsible for Electric Energy Division's contracts and agreements.
